"A total success". This is how @Monsieur Koffi KOUAME, prefect of the Daloa department and the Haut Sassandra region described the community awareness and listening day organized on April 21 by AGRO-MAP,aDryada 's partner in a 70,000 ha reforestation project in the Haut Sassandra region, which is the subject of an agreement with the @Ministère des Eaux et Forêts, signed last January.
More than 100 people directly or indirectly concerned (the Prefectoral corps of the departments concerned, representatives of the Ministry of Water and Forests, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development, Ministère de l'Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche Scientifique, Ministère des Affaires Étrangères de l'Intégration Africaine et de la Diaspora, Ministère de la Défense, Conseil du Café-Cacao, Organisations de la Société Civile and village chiefs) met today in DALOA.
All those who wished were given the opportunity to have their say, following a presentation of the forest restoration and rehabilitation initiative by Patrice ADAYE, CEO of AGRO-MAP.
The fact that a cocoa-growing agroforestry zone is planned around the reforestation area was praised, as was the employment of local people, women and young people in particular (shade construction, filling bags, planting, etc.).
Patrice ADAYE also reassured that other expectations expressed today would be taken into account in the development plan for Côte d'Ivoire's largest project to date, in line with the official ambition to reforest the country, particularly in rural areas.
"It's the first time we've been asked for our opinion before starting a project, and not after it's been started". This reaction from one participant reflects the general feeling expressed at the end of the day.
It's a conclusion that both partners, aDryada and AGRO-MAP, are fully satisfied with, as compliance with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals is a major key to the success of any project of this type, hence the slogan we rehabilitate with the communities and for the communities.
The next step will be to organize information and awareness-raising sessions.
