As the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and Drought (UNCCD) draws to a close, Reforest'Action and its implementing partner AGRO-MAP are organizing a major awareness-raising and planting ceremony at Sokrogbo in the Taabo Sub-Prefecture in connection with the Agroforestry and Community Reforestation of Forest Plots Project.
This awareness-raising campaign, which focuses on Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) such as agroforestry, community reforestation, ecosystem restoration and community action to preserve the environment, is a response to the climate emergency facing humanity.
"Because the forest is the best solution for the climate and biodiversity, it's vital for us to act now before it's too late," asserts AGRO-MAP Founder and Managing Director Mr. Patrice ADAYE. With this in mind, the mass awareness-raising session ended with a community planting ceremony of forest and fruit trees over a 2-hectare area, with the participation of the Taabo Sub-Prefect Traoré Mariam, the Taabo District Chief of Water and Forests, the traditional chieftaincy of the village of Sokrogbo and over 300 participants made up of women, young people and children from the village.
