Information on the general framework of the position

AGROMAP is a regional company based in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. It designs and implements sustainability projects through Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) in Côte d'Ivoire, the Republic of Congo, Cameroon and Ghana. These projects have a positive socio-economic impact on small-scale producers and their communities, improving their resilience to the effects of climate change.

AGROMAP is strongly committed to the development of quality forest carbon credit projects. To ensure the operational implementation of projects in the field, four (04) strategic axes have been identified, namely (01) the NBS axis, (02) the Consulting axis, (03) the Renewable Energy axis and (04) the Technologies axis. AGROMAP CONGO is recruiting an Environmental and Social Protection Officer to strengthen its workforce in the Republic of Congo Brazzaville.

Job description :

Reporting to the Projects Manager, the Environmental and Social Safeguards Officer will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Ensure the mobilization of communities and their commitment to the implementation of environmental and social safeguard activities;
• Conduct environmental screening activities or any other environmental and social survey;
• Raise awareness of gender-based violence, protection against sexual exploitation and abuse, the feedback and complaints reporting mechanism, and social and environmental risk management among individuals and communities;
• Monitor the environmental and social management plan in the field;
• Write and share environmental screening reports, ESMP monitoring reports, weekly, monthly and quarterly environmental and social safeguard reports with the Project Manager;
• In conjunction with the monitoring and evaluation team, carry out mini satisfaction surveys among project beneficiaries;
• Contribute to the project's compliance with the requirements of the Environmental and Social Management Framework and Environmental and Social Management Plan;

Profile required:

• Education: BAC + 3 in environment, natural resources management, climate change, rural development, forestry, or any other related field;
•  At least 2 years' professional experience in a similar position;
• A good knowledge of the World Bank's environmental and social framework would be an asset;
• A good knowledge of national and international legal texts applicable to environmental and social safeguards;
• A great ability to listen and adapt;
• Knowledge of the Sangha and Likouala departments is a major asset;
• The ability to work under difficult conditions;
• Excellent motorcycle riding skills.
• Ability to work in a rural environment;
• As French is the working language, written and spoken proficiency is mandatory.
• Fluent in Lingala, knowledge of local languages is an asset.
