Information on the general framework of the position
AGROMAP is a regional company headquartered in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. It designs and implements sustainability projects with nature-based solutions in Côte d'Ivoire, Congo and Ghana. These projects have a socio-economic impact on small-scale producers and their communities, improving their resilience to the effects of climate change. As part of the implementation of its activities in Côte d'Ivoire, AGROMAP is looking for a project officer to join its technical team and manage day-to-day activities on various projects.
Missions :
Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Project Officer's mission will be to support the development, coordination, management and monitoring of ecosystem restoration, agroforestry, reforestation and income-generation initiatives with farmers' organizations and farming communities on behalf of AGROMAP customers.
In detail, this will involve :
Project management :
- Set up, plan, coordinate and monitor the implementation of project activities;
- Build, train and manage project teams and local partners.
- Collect and manage data for internal reports ;
- Control the quality of the implementation of activities ;
- Improve procedures and coordinate project impact monitoring activities;
- Update reporting and communication tools and formats;
- Draw up technical and financial bids for projects;
- Participate in the design phase and draft technical documents for projects;
- Develop and manage annual project budget plans;
- Provide financial reports and budget overviews to the Program Coordinator;
- Participate in workshops with project stakeholders at the request of the Program Coordinator;
Project development :
- Develop strategic plans for new and existing projects, such as new ecosystem restoration, agroforestry and reforestation projects;
- Identify and pursue opportunities to scale up projects and collaborate with relevant departments to activate opportunities to scale up and improve projects ;
- Responsible for regular reporting on project progress.
Deliverables management :
Manage local implementation partners and ensure quality deliverables are written and provided to Program Coodinator in a timely manner.
Project follow-up :
- Coordinate and monitor the implementation of data collection with field teams, providing training where necessary;
- Be responsible for updating and implementing data collection forms in the local context of projects;
- Responsible for data collection, consolidation and analysis of project results;
- Support the implementation of impact monitoring strategies.
Partnership and representation :
- Identify, build relationships with and mentor local partners (cooperatives and their members, consultants);
- Represent AGROMAP at conferences, at meetings with existing and potential customers, and with beneficiaries in the field at the request of the Program Coordinator.
Profile required:
- Have a Bac +4/5 or equivalent in the following fields: Forestry and Environment, Agronomy, Climate Change, Economics, Biodiversity Conservation, Rural Development, Agroforestry Project Management or any other related field;
- At least two (02) years' professional experience as a project officer or in a similar position;
- Proven experience in project management in rural areas;
- Strong writing skills to write and deliver quality reports;
- Strong leadership skills ;
- Good written and oral communication skills;
- Technical and public presentation skills ;
- Great attention to detail and technical aspects;
- Excellent organizational and technical skills;
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task;
- Knowledge of agro-industrial and cooperative companies;
- Managerial skills and the ability to create and monitor budgets are required;
- Relational skills ;
- Previous experience in setting up and monitoring development projects and providing technical support to producers;
- Teaching and listening skills;
- Organizational skills ;
- Thoroughness and diplomacy;
- Sense of creativity, innovation and initiative;
- Ability to work fast and to the point;
- Ability to work on several projects with different teams;
- Good adaptability ;
- A good command of the English language (spoken & written) would be an asset.
