GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE POSITION
AGRO-MAP is a regional company based in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. It designs and implements sustainability projects based on nature-based solutions in Côte d'Ivoire, Congo and Ghana. These projects have a socio-economic impact on small-scale producers and their communities, improving their resilience to the effects of climate change. As part of the implementation of its activities in Côte d'Ivoire, AGRO-MAP is recruiting a GIS Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Reporting to the project coordinator, the GIS Manager will be primarily responsible for :
- Design and define AGRO-MAP's GIS architecture;
- Propose a methodology for setting up GIS adapted to AGRO-MAP projects;
- Organize, prioritize, check data quality and correct ;
- Produce technical tools for collecting and reporting information from the field;
- Create thematic maps related to the project;
- Plan, acquire and process drone data;
- Draw up a training and upgrading plan for AGRO-MAP teams;
- Ensure the training and upgrading of project teams in cartographic / GIS concepts and software through a well-targeted training program in the collection, management, use and updating of geographic data;
- Support project teams after training in the use, manipulation and exploitation of GIS data;
- Analyze and process satellite data to produce thematic maps (land use maps, vegetation productivity monitoring maps using vegetation indices, etc.);
- Write mission reports and maps;
- Coordinate with coordination unit managers to update databases, produce maps for communication media, and periodical reports (in the form of Tableau de Bords) sent to partners;
SKILLS :
Expected Skills :
- Good knowledge of remote sensing, photo-interpretation and photogrammetry;
- Good knowledge of the use of GPS for field surveys and GIS integration;
- Good knowledge of vector file topology management ;
- Knowledge of community development approaches ;
- Teaching skills for training one or more team members.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :
- Holder of a BAC +4/5 in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS), Geomatics and Territory, Geography or any other equivalent degree;
- At least four (04) years' experience in Geographic Information Systems, with mastery of QGIS and ArcGIS;
- Experience in setting up and structuring spatial databases is essential;
- Proven experience in the use of computers and office software (MS, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), and in-depth knowledge of spreadsheet and database software;
- Experience of working and transferring knowledge with state actors, in particular local authorities, regional authorities, the coffee-cocoa council, as well as with non-state actors such as cooperatives;
- Good knowledge of the cocoa sector and experience in forestry and agroforestry activities;
- Fluency in written and spoken French;
- A good knowledge of English would be a definite asset.
