Information on the general framework of the position
AGROMAP is a regional company headquartered in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. It designs and implements sustainability projects through Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) in Côte d'Ivoire, Congo Brazzaville, Cameroon and Ghana. These projects have a positive socio-economic impact on small-scale producers and their communities, improving their resilience to the effects of climate change. AGROMAP is strongly committed to the development of forest carbon credit projects. To ensure the operational implementation of projects in the field, four strategic axes have been identified: NBS, Consulting, Renewable Energy and Technology. As part of its expansion, AGROMAP is recruiting an Agroforestry and Carbon Manager for its Abidjan office.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of NBS Operations, the Agroforestry and Carbon Manager will be responsible for :
Design and development of agroforestry projects
- Designing and implementing agroforestry projects ;
- Supervise the implementation of projects (agroforestry, reforestation, carbon credit sequestration);
- Ensure the operational, budgetary and technical planning of agroforestry projects;
- Ensure that projects are consistent with sustainability standards;
- Develop profitable economic models integrating agricultural production, forestry and ecosystem services;
- Monitoring the evolution of agroforestry and sustainability best practices;
- Propose and test new approaches to maximize positive environmental and economic impacts;
- Supervise planting and sustainable land management activities;
- Produce technical and strategic reports for General Management, donors and partners.
Team management
- Support the recruitment of field agents to implement carbon and agroforestry projects;
- Supervise technical teams (agricultural technicians, community leaders, agricultural engineers, etc.);
- Develop team skills and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration;
- Monitor individual and collective objectives;
Reporting and communication
- Report regularly to the General Manager on performance ;
- Prepare detailed reports on project progress and impact on sustainability objectives;
- Collaborate with NGOs, public institutions, certification bodies and donors.
Profile required
- BAC +4/5 in management, sustainable development, agroforestry, environment or related field.
- Experience of 7 years minimum a management position, preferably in the sustainability and agroforestry sectors;
- Recognized technical expertise in sustainable agroforestry;
- Proven organizational and listening skills;
- Mastery of project management and environmental reporting tools ;
- Experience of working with rural communities and participatory approaches.
