BACKGROUND
CEMOI has initiated a sustainability program known as the Transparence Cacao Program, comprising several projects designed to ensure control of its supply network and the implementation of a cocoa traceability system. To implement the activities in the field, AGRO-MAP has been commissioned to collect socio-economic data and map the cocoa-growing plots of 5,000 producers from CEMOI's partner cooperatives.
OBJECTIVES
The general objective is to have a database of cocoa producers who supply Cemoi with cocoa.
- Collect socio-economic information and cartographic data on cocoa farms.
- Train relay producers in the use and knowledge of GPS.
- Raise producers' awareness of the activities of the CEMOI Cocoa Transparency Program.
RESULTS
- Over 20,000 producers visited.
- Over 25,000 farmers' cocoa plots mapped.
- Over 100 relay producers (RPs) trained.
