
BACKGROUND
Faced with the impact of climate change on the sustainability of cocoa, Mondelez International has set up its "Cocoa Life" sustainable development program. "Cocoa Lifeprogram, based on three major pillars:
(i) protecting and restoring forests,
(ii) promote sustainable cocoa production by strengthening producers' livelihoods producers' livelihoods,
(iii) involve local communities and encourage social inclusion. Through this program, Mondelez supports producers and their communities by developing innovative reforestation models, setting up community reforestation plots contributing to the national forest cover restoration strategy.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
Reduce deforestation in its supply chain, to help combat climate change and improve the resilience of producers and communities.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
- Create community forests and fuelwood parks in Cocoa Life communities;

Support producers and communities in implementing and maintaining income-generating activities (IGAs) and community forests;

Draw up management plans for established community forests;
EXPECTED RESULTS

Community forests and firewood parks are created and monitored;

Producers and communities are supported in the implementation and maintenance of income-generating activities (IGAs) and community forests; created;

Management plans for installed community forests are drawn up and transferred to MINEF;
