BACKGROUND
The Government of Congo has benefited from the support of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI). Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI)to implement the PREFOREST and PROREP projects, led by the Ministry of Forest Economy (MEF) and the FAO. These projects aim to reduce emissions from forest degradation, promote sustainable wood energy and develop agricultural sectors for the benefit of rural populations, in particular women, young people and indigenous peoples. It covers five (05) departments (Pool, Plateaux, Kouilou, Niari, Bouenza), over an area of around 14,500 ha to be restored, making it possible to avoid 0.84 MtCO₂/year. The projects bénéwill directly benefit à 41,373 people and indirectly à 870,649, while strengtheningçthe'adaptation and mitigation to climate change.
To improve the monitoring and evaluation capabilities of these projects, AGROMAP CONGO is helping to set up a robust, high-performance Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) system.
.
OBJECTIVES
Equip the PREFOREST and PROREP projects with a Monitoring & Evaluation plan and a single framework for effectively measuring and steering their performance.
The specific objectives of the project are :
-
Harmonize the Monitoring & Evaluation system of the two projects by unifying methods, tools and indicators, for a joint and coherent monitoring of results in all areas, to avoid duplication and reinforce the complementarity of actions.;
-
Implement set up a rigorous monitoring system to regularly measure the progress and impact of projects (physical and financial) according to their logical frameworks: CO₂ évitéreforested areasées, bénéficiaries affected, etc;
-
Provide teams with fast, reliable data to guide decisions, adjust actions in the event of delays or difficulties, and continuously improve strategies through learning;
-
Produce dquality reports to inform donors, authorities and communities of progress and the use of resources to reinforce transparency and accountability;
RESULTS
-
Harmonize methods, tools and indicators for joint and consistent monitoring of results are available ; across all zones, to avoid duplication and enhance the complementarity of actions;
-
A A rigorous monitoring system to regularly measure the progress and impact of projects (physical and financial) according to their logical frameworks: CO₂ évitéreforested areasées, bénéficiaires atteints est mis en place;
-
Qualitative qualitative data for decision-making and adjustments in the event of delays or difficulties, to contribute to the continuous improvement of strategies through learning.;
